  • SUMMER WORKOUT

Since there is nothing much to do in the summer, I'm gonna TRY to start my summer workout. Last night, I jogged around the neighborhood. No more Toomey Field, but a nice bike/walking/jogging path will do. Man, wished I started this when my summer vacation started. June will be over and I'll have about 5 weeks to burn them calories.  Let's hope I continue my workout. Keep your fingers crossed!

  • 1st year!!!

My "toughest year" is over!!! Other teachers have told me over and over again that the 1st year teaching will be the toughest year. They were not lying. Although I was kept BUSY, I had a wonderful time with about 200 students who have taught me A LOT, and I hope I was able to sneak in some new concepts in their hectic hormonal working brains. Despite all the sleepless nights, it was well worth it to see the improvement in some of these kids and my 8th graders shine up on the stage receiving their diplomas. To all my friends, I apologize that I've been a hermit or may not have talked to you for awhile. Blame my students! Naw, it has been rough. The real world is tough, especially when each weekday is spent the whole day, 15-18 hours, working. So, don't HATE me! I admire all new teachers. In fact, anyone "new" to the work force or job. Which brings me to those who will be graduating this weekend in Davis. CONGRATS to my lil bros Alan and Christina, kids, and friends who will be taking this stepping stone in their young lives! Can't wait until they get a taste of what "real work" will be like! Anyhow, to sum it all up, my first year teaching has been one crazy ride filled with excitements, sadness, long days and nights pulling my hair out trying to create lessons that will be accessible to all my kids, and unforgettable and "wanna forget" moments!!!

  • WOW, it has been forever since I've written on here!!! So many things have had happened ever since my last entry.
It feels like a new beginning...things haven't been the same since too much shit happen in this world. Oh well, despite the hectic schedule, I'm enjoying my life as is.

Time to get my rest so I can teach the 2nd graders!

  • Summer is coming to an end. I still need to find a freaken place to stay. Hopefully I can find a nice and cheap place (at least 4 bedrms, 2 bathrms) within these last 2 weeks. If not, then I'll have to stay at my grandma's place.

Anyhow, I am coming to my last few days in Davis. Today, at work, I told my supervisor that Friday might be my last day at Taps! He convinced me that I should stay until next week or so when my boss returns from his vacation. I guess I'll do that. However, I'm gonna move my stuff this weekend to Sac so that means I won't have a bed at my apt. So, if I stay next week in Davis, that means I'll have to sleep on the ground? Shit, I don't even have internet at my place anymore. Right now I'm stayin at Sorrento 153 all by myself! It's quiet, but it's nice!!! I like it! It's just still hella messy and dirty that's all. Oh well, just this week and maybe next week. Moving and cleaning will not be fun!

I have orientation for the teaching program on the 31st and the 1st. Kinda excited, but kinda nervous.

Exciting news: I won an award for outstanding volunteer work with my mentoring program. It was at the banquet mentioned in the previous entry. I received it b/c it was based on the my mentee's improvement with his academics. He got most improved and perfect attendance!!! He's an awesome kid! I had no idea I was getting this award, but the coordinators of my program really tricked me! The plaque looks awesome!!! This is a great program and I guess I'll continue to stay in it since I'll be in Sac. While my coordinator was up on the stage, she said "It looks like one person can make a difference!"...she can't be talkin about me! haha I know my mentee did it all on his own!

I am the Vice Chair for IMSC 9. I told myself that I wont take position, but I guess I just can't help it. It's in my nature to help out my Mienh community. Also, to provide my leadership skills? eh, it's gonna be fun and worth it. I just hope it doesnt interfere with school too much.

My friends are getting married in November. Last weekend when I went back home, I got my measurements for the tux as I will be a groomsman (i guess that's what it's called). I'm excited b/c I miss all my great friends back home. This wedding will bring all of us together. I can't wait.

This is a crazy long ass entry. I guess that's what happened when I don't have internet of my own. Anyhow, I've been having an awesome time in my last few weeks in davis...just having a blast spending quality time...tryin to play more sports but all my sports ppl are busy...some ppl say i've been MIA, but i dont think i've been...if i have then i guess there's a reason?

  • ok, so they finally tell me that I'm in!!! Guess I'll be living off on financial aid this coming year again, wohoo!!! I hope the program wont be too hard, but if it is, then i'll have to kick my ass into hardcore studying... :(

still haven't found a place to stay in Sac...man, now i'm in the program, i cant be homeless...so, if you know any nice place in Sac that's available hollar at your boy!!!

dinner with the big boys tonite (city officials, big and small business men and women, and other important ppl)...maybe i'll be able to network and get some hookups *cross fingers*...i need a tux or suit tho...oh well, they'll have to see some ghetto looking asian dude who's really there for free food...oh yeah, did i forget to mention: the seats are $100 each...but it's free for my guest and i :)
